Thank you so much for this post. I had this cassette back in the day, and the only place I've ever seen the CD for sale was an import for over $211!

You are more than welcome, and thank you for commenting.

I get 4 to 5 hits per day on here for this, and you're the first person to take the time to say "Thank You".

I really appreciate it :)

Thanks so much. I was just thinking about Rosie and how I only had the tape and then I found your link. Can't wait to put it on my Ipod

Many thanks for this - I can't afford the prices the used CD commands on ebay and really wanted to hear this again - I still have the vinyl and will play it again when I get it out of storage.
It'll be playing in my cheese shop when we open this morning!

Hi Cydney
I too would like to say a big thanks for this. Excellent album in excellent quality. Lost my original cassette some years ago and have been longing for it ever since. You are a star.... JJ

You're welcome JJ, and everybody else, too!

When Zazu was released (1986) I bought it on vinyl, but liked it so much I went back a couple of weeks later and bought it on CD. SO glad I did.

Shortly after that it disappeared from the shelves... It has been OOP for a very long time...

Cheers :)

Thanks for this post.
Gary Katz and Walter Brecker/Donald Fagan (aka Steely Dan) did a wonderful job on this album. Glad to hear it again (I used to have this thing on cassette; in my country The Netherlands the album isn't available on cd.
So again, many thanks!

At last!!

Like you, I bought this on cassette back in the day.

Unlike you, I never bought it on CD.

Now have a 320 rip of this.

Whoever you are...you've made my weekend. Thank you so much.

Ҫჯ said...

Actually, I didn't buy this on cassette... I had initially purchased it on vinyl, but loved it so much that I went back the next week and bought the compact disc.

Based on comments and email I've gotten about this download, it doesn't look like this recording was ever available on CD in Europe. It wasn't on the racks very long in the US, either.

Such a shame... Rosie should have been a major talent in the music industry, and not have wound up simply as Jeff Lynne's backup singer.

She shines bright... still.

C,

I didn't DL - I bought this on vinyl when it was released and then found it on cd a few years back. Great!

I thank you for making it available to any who do not have it.

I have a VHS clip (somewhere) of her playing on the old Letterman Show, I believe.

J

Ҫჯ said...

Hi J :)

I would LOVE to see that clip from Letterman, if you ever come across it!

I get so many download hits on here... this CD should be re-released.

Rosie wrote all of her songs here, but since Becker and Fagen are so prominent on this recording, I am getting the impression many think they wrote the songs... that's a shame. I have even seen this referenced as "Steely Dan with a girl singer." Wrong, lol.

Keenovay... keenovay... :D

How-dee, C!

The songs don't sound like Steely Dan (Donald Fagan) written material. The sound has a similar "polished" to it, but Rosie has her won perspective. I hear it that way, anyway.

I don't watch much on VHS - haven't for quite a while, so I'd have to search.

Did you like When You're Strange?

J

Oh, are you kidding? I freakin' loved "When You're Strange", because DiCillo restored (beautifully!) so much footage from "HWY" and "Feast Of Friends."

I own both movies, but my copy of "HWY" still has the editing counter running at the bottom of the screen, and "Feast" is in such bad shape...

I downloaded the DVD rip of WYS off of the official site a couple of weeks ago, and I'm just happy to own the film, as the American Masters version was censored, unfortunately.

Thank you so much for this. I too bought this album on vinyl in 1986 after hearing it on "Jazz Flavors" on a radio station in Atlanta. I loved it and still do.

I don't understand why Rosie didn't become a huge recording star either. She had a terrific talent and was (and is) gorgeous. Very marketable.

You're more than welcome, and I just wish Vela's record company could see how many hits I get on this, lol... many.

I used to listen to Zazu every day for a while in the early nineties after I found it in a secondhand record shop in Nottingham. The complete lack of a follow-up lp only adds to her mystique! Thank you so much for this, OI.

Possessing only an almost 30 years old cassette tape, obviously on or even beyond its last legs, I've been looking for this rare gem for literally years. Thank you so much for making this available!
